Pokémon Pokopia’s Bubbly Basin DLC Goes Underwater

Pokémon Pokopia’s Bubbly Basin DLC Goes Underwater

Pokémon Pokopia is expanding its slow-life sandbox with its first paid DLC, taking players beneath the surface for a new underwater town, new Pokémon, furniture, building mechanics, and more.

The Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass Part 1: Bubbly Basin launched on August 5, 2026, alongside the free Ver. 2.0.0 software update. The DLC can be played using existing save data, although players need to update the game first.

Build an Underwater Town in Bubbly Basin

Bubbly Basin introduces a new town where players can work alongside Popplio and Ditto while completing requests from Pokémon living beneath the sea. The town gradually develops as players help its residents.

The underwater setting also introduces new ways to build. Newly added buoyant blocks allow players to create structures that float at different levels, opening up three-dimensional town designs that aren’t possible on land. Pokémon with the ability to build underwater can help with construction as well.

Watermelon is also being added as a new crop. Underwater crop fields require a Pokémon with the Water specialty, such as Mudkip, to cover the seedlings with bubbles and provide them with air. Pokémon with the Grow specialty can then help speed up their growth.

Players can also power underwater machines with help from Pokémon with the Generate specialty, such as Chinchou. This includes devices like streetlights and bubble machines, which produce bubbles once powered.

New Furniture, Adventures, and a Sharpedo Submarine

Bubbly Basin also brings new furniture designed specifically for underwater living. Players can decorate their rooms and even build a Sharpedo submarine that functions as a Secret Base-style room.

There’s more to explore beyond the town itself. A hole in the seafloor leads into a dark deep-sea area, where players can follow glowing coral while exploring alongside Pokémon.

A Starmie doll also unlocks access to a new Dream Island. Players can swim around the island with Pokémon, including during multiplayer sessions.

The DLC also adds new outfits, additional Pokémon, an upgraded Surf move, and smoothies as a new prepared food.

Dive Lets Players Build Underwater

The free Ver. 2.0.0 update adds Dive, a new move that allows players to freely travel underwater.

Manaphy teaches Dive after players complete the “Raise the environment level!” request in Bleak Beach and already know Surf and how to jump. Manaphy itself can be befriended through the paid DLC.

Once Dive is unlocked, players can swim underwater alongside Water-type Pokémon, build relaxation areas and crop fields, and even extend railway tracks from land into the water. Players can then ride a handcar directly between the two environments.

The Expansion Pass Continues

The Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass includes three paid DLC parts.

Part 1: Bubbly Basin adds the new underwater town alongside additional Pokémon, furniture, and other content. Part 2 is planned for late 2026 and will introduce accessories that let players dress up alongside Pokémon, as well as more Pokémon and furniture. It will not introduce a new town.

Part 3 is planned for 2027 and will add another new town alongside additional Pokémon, furniture, and more content.

The Expansion Pass is currently available through the Nintendo eShop, Nintendo Store, and official Nintendo Store app.

Players who purchase the Expansion Pass can also claim a recipe for dynamic Ditto print blocks and wallpaper. A purchase bonus also provides 30 rare Pokémetal Ingots, with the bonus available for qualifying purchases through August 31, 2027.

Feebas and Milotic Are Coming to Town

The free update also introduces the “Fetching Scales for Feebas” seasonal event, beginning August 13 and running until August 28.

During the event, players can collect prism scales and exchange them for swimming-themed furniture. These decorations can be used to create habitats that allow players to befriend Feebas and Milotic. Pokémon befriended through the event remain in the town after the event ends.

The event requires the Ver. 2.0.0 update, rebuilding the Pokémon Center, an accurate system date and time, and an internet connection when starting the event for the first time. It can be played in Palette Town through Link Play, although spectator mode isn’t available.

Pokémon Pokopia is available exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2 and supports up to four players through local or internet connectivity. The game is a slow-life sandbox developed and planned by The Pokémon Company, GAME FREAK inc., and KOEI TECMO GAMES.
